CYLINDROMA

CYLINDROMA  ICD-10: 23.L33

• Rare appendage tumor of apocrine, or as some believe, eccrine glands.
• Two forms: Solitary or multiple. The latter often familial and inherited as an autosomal dominant trait. Often in the setting of Brooke–Spiegler syndrome, in association with trichoepitheliomas and other hamartomas and basal cell carcinomas.
• Reddish papule or nodule on the scalp. In the multiple phenotype, often densely aggregated “turban” tumors (Fig. 9-43), also on face and trunk.
• Extremely rarely may turn malignant.
• Therapy: Surgical excision.
