KOILONYCHIA
Spoon-shaped nails (Fig. 32-30). Etiology (more often resulting from local rather than systemic factors): Hereditary and congenital; Plummer–Vinson syndrome (iron- deficiency anemia, dysphagia, and glossitis). Findings: In early stages, nail plate becomes flattened; later, edges become everted upward and nail appears concave.
