MUCOCELEย ย ICD-10: K11.6
โข These arise following rupture of the minor salivary gland.
โข Findings: Nodule with mucus-filled cavity, with a thick roof (Fig. 33-21). Chronic lesions are firm, inflamed, poorly circumscribed nodules; bluish, translucent; fluctuant.
โข Location: Develops at sites where minor salivary glands are easily traumatized, mucous membranes of the lip and floor of the mouth.
โข Course: Chronic, recurrent, and then it presents as a firm, inflamed nodule.
โข Treatment: Minimize trauma. Can consider excise.
